Was thinking of buying a case of this ammo at a local dealer, it is on sale.
I bought a box instead to see if my rimfires liked it.
Wow, this stuff was total crap. Neither my Norinco JW15 nor my Savage MKII would chamber this ammo without a VERY firm push on the bolt.
I tried my old standby, Federal value box stuff and it chambered with 2 fingers on the bolt and shot very well.
Some of the Thunder bolt was so tough to chamber I simply ejected the round which required a good thump on the bolt.
I will stick with the Federal and the Winchester Dynapoints.
Any body else have issues with the Federal thunder bolts?

Tried the stuff in my 10/22, and at LEAST 1/10 rounds was a misfire. I even re-chambered it a few times to test if it was just uneven priming, but on one such occasion I gave up after 4 re-tries (4 separate dents, still didn't fire).

But you know what the kicker is? The damn stuff is some of the most accurate ammo I've shot (when it did fire) out my 10/22! Go *@(%ing figure. It most definitely isn't worth the price (almost $40 for a brick, when bricks of Winchester or Federal, which are much better ammo, can be had for half that).

EDIT: Oops, just checked, and the ammo I described above are actually Remington Yellow Jackets. I don't buy Remington rimfire ammo at all because I've heard many similar comments to the previously posted. A friend brought it to the range, and gave it to me after it wouldn't shoot worth sh*t, and that's when I discovered my 10/22 actually liked them.

Given my experience with the stuff, seems to be the same as most people's, I'm amazed they just keep on doing what they're doing. Bad stuff about Rem ammo, outnumbers good stuff, by at least 10-1. I guess until they start losing money, why change anything.

Thunderbolt ammo is dirtier than a $5...welll, you get the idea.

I had two boxes of it at one point, consistent ftf in my 10-22.

rem ammo

I bought some for the kids to shoot single action revolver and mark 2 this stuff was a total waste of money , the dirtiest crap I ever used and so many miss fires it was unreal.

Well I guess i will add my 2 cents.

Bought a case (5000) cheap; I knew the reputation and decided if worst came to worst I would use them up in my bolt actions.

After firing about 2000 so far I have to say I am very surprised, I can only agree with the herd/heard on the failure to fire issue. Out of say 500 there would be about 10 that would refuse to fire, after multiple 'spins' of the rim and out of different guns. That is would NOT fire, I didn't count ones that went off after a second strike.

Dirty ammo? Not for me. I was ready for all the unburned powder and 'sand' that others have complained about. I even looked for a horribly corroded barrel (God bless Youtube). Well no corroded barrel, no unburnt powder or unusual residues. IMO and experience Winchester Wildcats are horrible (and much worse) for unburned powder and residue.

Doesn't feed? Fed fine in my m93 norinco. It did chamber and eject a bit tighter out of my m17 s&w. I did notice what seemed to me to be more than a few dented (unfired)rounds. This I am comparing to what I have seen from say Federal or Winchester bulk.

All in all I will buy Thunderbolts again, if the right price comes up. Until then I will stick to American Eagle and CCI Blazer 40gr lead round nose for my 'go to' bulk ammo.

I din't really have much issues with them. Only issue was, of the 500 rounds, I had less that 10 FTFs...
I got a Savage MKII
I don't find it anymore dirty than any other rimfires.

Remington Thunderbolts once leaded my S&W K-22 so badly that a cleaning rod would not pass freely through the bore. I had to screw a jag to the end of the rod and tap out the buildup just ahead of the forcing cone. Needless to say, the bullets were keyholing after only about 75 shots.

LOL bought 5000 rounds of this stuff during Reliables yearly sale before I new more about thunderbolts

but I use a bolt action so I never experienced any problems with this ammo.

There's a reason Remington Thunderbolt is cheap.....

IT'S CRAP!!!!

No .22 I've ever owned or used that ammo in liked it, including a CIL 310 that would feed damned near anything, and shoot it fairly accurately too.

Best group I shot out of my High Standard, was with Thunderbolts. Before my Sig Mosquito was broke-in, Thunderbolts were all it would feed reliably. Bought 2 cartons at LeBaron's, a couple of years ago, at $14.99 a brick. To many FTF, and seemed worse in cold weather. Works fine in my rifles. CTC has them for $34.99 a brick. Ten bucks seems about fair.
