Not mentioned in the CNBC blurb are the settlements and recalls which took place in the 70's and 80's. The whole affair is a classic example of lawyers speaking out about a subject about which they (a) know nothing and (b) about which are incapable of learning because they won't freakin' listen. There was no fatal flaw in the design although there were some superfluous parts. There were, over the years, occasional issues with materials and/or workmanship. This same statement is true regarding most other triggers built by other manufacturers.
