Remington Trinyte coating.

How strong is this stuff? Any chance this coating can flake off?

How's the smoothness of the Trinyte finish (either the original silver or the black coated)? I have a Rem 7600 Weathermaster with the electroless nickel finish --- it's very tough and durable and is showing no signs of flaking; however, it does have a noticeable texture to it compared to e.g., a stainless 700 BDL barrel (which itself is considerably smoother than a 700 SPS).

From the pictures, it looks like the Trinyte is pretty smooth, but it would be good to get a first-hand opinion.

I have that coating on my Rem M700 XCR 11 375 H&H and its GOOD ! No problems - lots of weather and loks like new yet ! RJ

I had the silver version, which is more comparable to the bdl ss than the sps roughness.

The trinyte coating on my XCR is bombproof. Holds up to abuse better than some of my customs with expensive aftermarket coatings.
