I saw an add for this "versamax" and it looks pretty good. Does anyone out there know anything about this thing. It's on the remington site.
Personally I haven't been a big remington guy for the last few years but this is interesting.
Nice sounding auto, looks good for remington.

Any thoughts?

Nice! I've been thinking that for a while now, I just thought some one could give some insight.
That is halarious!
It was worth the three days to read that.
Thanks phinton81
this post is now dead to me.

If it is just as "good" as their CT105 II auto-loader better stay clear. I had one and had nothing but problems with it. Failure to cycle, failure to extract, jams necessitating a complete tear down of a loaded gun at the range etc. As it was still under warranty I contacted Remington and sent it back to their Canadian agent; Gravel Agency. They confirmed it was defective and promised me a new one from their inventory. 2 days later I got a call that Remington had discontinued the model and that they could not locate a replacement in Canada. They did find 18 in the US, but they all suffered from the same problem...
To make things "right" they offered me a replacement gun of 1/2 the value I paid for my CT105 ($700 versus $ 1369 to be precise). When I protested they simply repeated the offer. When I got really mad they wanted to give the merchant I bought the gun from an in-store credit. I countered that the warranty agreement was between me and Remington, not the merchant and that I did not want to be limited to whatever the merchant decided to carry or battle them to get my money back. Finally, after threatening to sue them, Remington "rethought its position" and promised to refund me the purchase price. I am still waiting for my money...:mad:

My advise is to wait a couple of years to see if this one is a keeper or a stinker like mine. Also, I would buy from a reputable company that will stand by its product and customers.

Wow. If I had an experience like that with any shotgun maker I'd treated all of their future products like radioactive waste.

Your story isn't unique. A friend of mine bought a CT105 that Remington replaced due to various problems and the second gun wasn't much better than the first. He is very happy with his Beretta 391.

What an informative post . Better stick to the china shyte then. It's not union made. :)

China shyte doesn't pretend to be anything other than what it is, unless of course you are easily fooled by knockoff goods.

Remington has been relying on old designs and past glories for way too long.

A nice Browining Cynergy Sporting Clays took the CT105's place. 25/25 first time out :D:D Kicks less too ;)

I do not want to rain on your parade, but the CT105 II also had glowing reviews. It was the "shotgun of the year 2007". My advise is to wait a few years and see if it is still around or quietly 'discontinued'.

If this Versamax works as good as what I've been hearing, I may just bring one home provided it fits and shoulders well for me.

Well put. Remington's quality control has slumped considerably, as has their customer service over the past few decades. Wait it out with a quality gun - if you still feel like it after this thing has proven its worth after a few thousand rounds, and you still feel inclined - go for it.
