Hello ALL this is my first post here.
I am looking at both but can't make up my mind...it will be in 30-06.
The models are REM 700 BDL CUSTOM DELUXE and SAV EURO CLASSIC MODEL 114...it is getting hard to find bolt action rifles with iron sights.
Both are great guns but what is the best?

The Remington is about $80 more, you would think you get what you pay for....but Savage has the AccuTrigger.
Any advise would be great.

The best advice I can give is to do a search on this website as this has been discussed probably a hundred times... recently...

1. wrong section those are hunting rifles not precision rifles
2. search function top of page works! this is a daily topic here
3. We all know that Savage is better!

absolutly, savage is way better....I work for CD&R, Remington's former owners and I've seen what they do to "Great American Manufacturers", stay away.

Find a gun store that has the rifle in stock and work the action and see which one you like the best when you handle it and inspect the actual rifle you will be potentially buying. Those photos of rifles are like the Big Mac's you see in the ads, not necessarily representative of the product you will receive. Bluing, metal finish, wood color and grain can be a lot different than you'd expect.

Thank you everyone for your input
Can the forum Moderator move this to hunting rifles area Please!!!!
Yeah sorry about that...I don't really know this forum very good...
I thought it was a good fit for the topic.

Redlaker1 "tactical long range precision bear defense" your to funny:nest:
.223 for deer :bsFlag:, I goofed in choosing the wright area to put this post
I agree. The only gun I own is a Remington 870 shotgun and want something good deer and etc. Savage it is....thanks for the input:D

All I could possibly add to this post is, I have noticed in the last 4-5 years remington rifles need more attention than the 15-20 year old ones did!

That being said, the VTR rifle I looked at the other day was not even in the stock properly off set to the left and ran the rail touching.

I know of 4 Milspecs bought and sold in one year, mine was one, that accuracy was no better than a normal hunting rifle, and less than my older sendaro, what a let down for me..

I like remington, own most of my rifles in remington actions, but they are going down hill

Every savage rifle I bought lately shoots right out of the box! Not saying they all will!

I just do not know what used to be my favorite gun maker is quickly falling on my list for out of teh box rifles.
However there is promise You can hire one of the Gun Smiths on this form to true an action up and rebarrel a new tackdriver in a bedded high end stock.

Savage for accuracy, looks, bbl swapping, trigger, remington for .....??? For a hunting rifle I'd go tikka though if in your price range. I really like the action and trigger on the t3. Accuracy on the one I tried was not he greatest but definately minute of deer
