Apart from Savage target Accutrigger(red one), how would you guys compare the Accutrigger from Savage to the on a Rem 700 (like VSSF or XCR TLR) ?

Thanks!!

Savage's trigger is probably one of the best mass market produced ones available. Some people really don't like them either. I have no problem with them. Try one and see for yourself.

I own both Remingtons and Savages. I don't have a Remington with the xmark trigger system.. It is the old style rem trigger. That being said, I have adjusted it and it breaks very nicely with no issues. I enjoy the accurriggers very much but my Remington is a touch lighter.

remingtons factory trigger breaks at about 6 pounds post lawsuit, savage a fair bit lighter, if your not comfortable working on a trigger by yourself then get the savage accutrigger. They all have their strong points and their weak points, it all burns down to personal preferrance

I would suggest trying them yourself. Only way to know what you will like.

I prefer Rem over Savage. I prefer the old rem trigger to the x-mark. I just don't like the way the accutrigger feels. Most people seem to like the Accutrigger alot though.

I have seen two incidents where lowering the pull weight too much on an Accutrigger led to malfunction.

Having said all that I don't have any rem triggers any more. All jewel except for one timney (until I can get put the funds together for another jewel).

Good luck.

Made my decision, I went and tried both.

I am getting a Savage 12 LRVP in a few weeks/months, already have 700$ in my piggy bank for it, I am halfway through :D

Reread the thread, The red trigger should work but it's still a savage.

What cal and what scope are you going to put on it?

Ya that rifle does have a target trigger, even if it had the regular trigger it would still be more accurate than any comparable factory Remington.

savage has come along ways ill give the savage fans that. in the 7 years years i have guided in western canada i have yet to see on savage action rifle, mostly remingtons a few winchester/wby and now the odd blaser from the europen clients.

i still prefer the 700 over a clunky savage any day of the week and a well tuned up rem will shoot as good as any savage along with a better felling bolt cycle.

I like my accutrigger, its good right out of the box.
I also tried a XMark on a rem 700vtr and its good but not as much as my Sav. model 10 accutrigger.

I also owned a Savage mark2 TR w/ac-trigger and loved it too...
These 2 rifles came from factory aleady set near minimum adjustment.

The safety lever is a nice feature, you can have a featherweight trigger and you are not affraid the rifle fire on its own from a small contact/fall. I know we always should use the safety lever but you never know what can happens...

If you plan to upgrade the trigger group, you have alot more options if you go with the Remington :yingyang:

Why not start a Poll ???
