Hi everyone. Does anyone have any opinions of the Remington Whitetail Pro 770? Great price (350.00 scoped) at Bass Pro Shop. Thinking of picking one up in a .243 for my wife to start hunting with.

Thanks!

They can call it Whitetail Pro or anything else, it's still a 770, which was just a new name to disguise the 710 because it earned a bad reputation. Of course there are people who bought them and report being satisfied, but too many who report problems for a company of Remington's stature in the industry.

At similar prices you get much better value for money buying a Stevens 200, Savage Axis, Savage 11/111 (without Accu-Trigger or the price is not a fair comparison), Marlin XS7 or XL7.

You may want to buy her an SPS instead.
The 710 & 770 Remingtons are not well liked.
They are not a stellar example of quality.
Eagleye.

X2! Bang on there. Savage also have packaged rifles. I would choose one of those instead of the 770. Lots of threads on here of disgruntled 770 owners and buyers.

There's better budget rifles out there. The ruger America and savage axis are good rifles for the amount they cost.
I have a ruger American in 308 win and its amazingly accurate .
