yeah its the new darpa rifle, i love it, and want it, and i am saving up for either this or a barrett 82a1 50 bmg, but i love this one because its warranty wont void, i can hunt with it, and have an assurance of 1000 yard moa,and i thought about it and a 308. would be a lot cheaper to shoot.

and i have the 11,000 saved up for a year.

What exactly is a "1000 yard MOA" or do you mean the rifle will hold 1 MOA at 1000 yards? Either way its irrelevant, the accuracy of 99% of rifles will outshoot 99% of shooters. Add extreme range and its closer to 100%. The Barrett, is prohibited in Communist Canada. Best look for another option, perhaps some professional training.

Why not build yourself a similar rifle for 1/4 the price (and that is without trying to save any money)?

Pretty hard for me to justify a Rem 700 blind mag rifle with an aftermarket barrel cost 5 figures scope or no scope. Considering that so much is still orig factory parts that have been 'touched'. A blind mag still in this day and age - how cruel?

As for overcoming their operational concerns about weight, I don't see how a short barrel rifle that still weights in at 16 to 18lbs has resolved anything.

It looks like the US continues to handicap their already handicapped cartridges by using shorter and shorter barrels. MOA at 1000yds is possible IF the shooters really knows how to drive cause he will not have velocity as his friend. Plus, he will be so close to the transonic treshold that wild and fun things could very well happen.

By the way MOA at 1000yds is a likely achievement with most quality factory hunting rifles on the market today including the STEVENS.....

But then it is not my money so enjoy...

PS you could just pick up a Savage in a HS or McMillan stock for $1000ish and resolve all the problems this mega dollar rig is trying to resolve.

IBA built the first MX-3 rifles for the DARPA, now Remington is building a unit and I just picked up a magazine that has an article about one that Partriot Arms built for the writer of the article. You could contact any of the builders here in Canada and they can build you a version.

I agree... plunk down half or more of that $ 10K platform and get a Timberwolf from PGW in MB.

With a couple of kids in college, it has to be a 700P or LTR for me..... maybe an M70 Stealth :D Lots cheaper, too!

XM-3 Rifle

The XM-3 is a nice rifle.
It is fairly well balanced and compact to the point of being deceptive. You don't think that a rifle with that short of a barrel will perform as well as it does at long range. Like one critique said "nothing new here", but having seen the results in person, I am a believer.
With it being a DARPA gun, I don't think you see too many actual 100% Iron Brigade Armory built XM-3 on this side of the border anytime soon.
