Hey Guys
I have been offered an action with the plastic stock, a custom wood stock and
a Mac Milan composite. It was a 221 fireball. My question to you is. What is it worth? Can I make anything with it?
Thanks for your help.
Dan

You can make anything that shoots a cartridge based on the 223 case with what you have. Rem 700 bbls thread right in. Stocks are different, but not that tough to get (and you already have a couple). I've done a couple of these (still have a multi bbl, multi bolt version coming together) and they turn out pretty decent. Only downside is that the CFC circus doesn't want to reclassify them as rifles anymore (they did my first one, refused my second). As to worth, less then a 700, more then a Stevens. - dan

Except the front screw is located further forward. Threads on the XP100 barrel were made with a relief cut for clearance for the guard screw. To fit a 600 stock, new screw holes have to be drilled and tapped; front and rear. Regards, Bill

Asked and answered, but I have an F-CLass gun built on an XP-100 action. It is a 22 pound single shot bolt actioned PISTOL. It means you cannot legally shoot them anywhere but an authorized range and they are subject to an ATT.

I am also not very happy about the fact that the rear action screw goes from inside the action- down. If you need to torque your action, you have to take your scope (and one-piece base) off.

they are very nice, but I would opt for an XR-100 action over an XP-100 action any day. Not worth the hassles in my estimation.

Did you modify the bolt handle? How?
I can pic this up for $100.
I am just not sure if I should make a rifle or handgun out of it.

For $100 the action is a pretty good deal!

If you look at the photo, I have simply stuck with the dog-leg handle. Nobody in these parts does a pro job of soldering on new bolt handles so I have left it alone.

In the old days, it was common for xp-100's to be de-registered and used to build rifles. I don't know what the ramifications might be to using one of these de-registered XP's. I would assume that once de-registered they could now be registered as a rifle. In truth, I don't really care! Regards, Bill.
