I once had a Marlin 1894 44 magnum with a 24 inch octagon barrel. Boy do I regret selling it. I'd be happy with a round barreled one. Maybe even a 20" one. Why did I have to sell it.
 
Sounds like a nice rifle!

I do that too. I tend to buy, sell and trade quite a bit. Something will catch my eye that I will think is the best thing in the world that I have to have, and sell something to be able to purchase it, then regret it shortly later LOL. In fact, just put something up for trade a few minutes ago that I know I'll regret getting rid of if I make a deal.

I reminisce more about the times, places & experiences using the many different rifles I've had over the years than the rifles themselves.
The rifles just helped to keep me interest in the game, be it hunting, tinkerin', competition or good old plinkin'. ;)
 
I once had an Ithaca model 37 16 gauge that I loved. In a moment of stupidity I sold it. I very much regretted it and a few years later my buddy showed up with one and gave it to me. He said he got tired of hearing about it so when he found one he bought it for me. I won't make the same mistake again.
 
I had an unaltered full-military configuration BSA Martini Cadet that chambered and shot 32-20. That was one sweet little rifle, accurate, and handy. I regret selling it--but I was moving and downsizing and the cash offer was great. I wouldn't mind another.
 
A good news story! Nine years ago I was able to buy back a United Sporting Arms Seville single action revolver from a sale I had made over twenty years earlier after steel silhouette shooting fizzled out. It is stainless steel in 357 super mag with 10.5 inch barrel. And for about what I sold it for.

I miss my Ruger M77 in 220 Swift with the Made in the 200th Anniversary of American Liberty.

A lot of single shots! A Hepburn, many martinis, some nice small cal, Wins high & low walls, rem rollers, Browning 78s, even a Werndel, You get the picture. Biggest problem is I can get some good old guns, they just don’t work with my old eyes.
 
Old Swedish Mauser converted to sporter stock. Bubba'd.
But goddam it was a good shooter. Shot a few Coyotes with it, harvested my first deer, took on countless trips in the forest. Regretted selling it as soon as I put it in the mail

Quite a number of years ago, ;) ONE of my pride & joys was a Winchester model 71 standard grade. Then, like I've done on a number of occasions in past,:redface: I parted with it. And again, as in past instances, five minutes later I kicked my butt for doing so. Turned out to be a mixed blessing this time as I ended up acquiring a mint model 71 deluxe at a local gun show:d:d. The 71 is my favorite lever gun/calibre combo.
 
I've sold lots of guns but the only one I kind of miss is a M1 Garand I bought for $149 at Lever Arms. I didn't shoot it for a few years so sold it for about $800, which was a decent price then. A few times since then I thought that it might be nice to have one again. I could just buy another but they are now $1500-$2000 and I don't miss it that much! :)
