Thought about posting this in gunsmithing, but figured I would be more likely to get an answer here.
Here's the deal.
Picked up a Remington 700VLS .308, and a MAK enterprises tubegun repeater kit. All is going well, got the recoil lug filed down just right for the handguard tube to slip just over it, put in the bolt and install the aft-cap with my Magpul PRS stock on it. Testing and adjusting, didn't JB weld the receiver in yet. I try to cycle some dummy ammo through, and the bolt is a few mm's short of coming as far back as it needs to strip a round out of the magazine. Taking a closer look, the rear end of the bolt enters the buffer tube. That ISS 'J-lock' thingy is in the way. No way around it. HOW do you take this thing off without having to get a new assembly without the ISS tab-tit? I know how to disassemble the bolt, but nothing about this lock.
Thanks for the time guys,
- Mac
