Hi,
Just bought a brand new Remington 700 BDL with sights. Beautiful gun but the butt pad is straight plastic, so I bought a Pachmyr limb saver butt pad. Took all 4 screws out of original butt pad however the plastic does not come off. Is it glued on or am I missing something? Anybody come across this andhow do I get it off?

Thanks
G

Popped the pad off and it was glued. Did not break anything, thankfully, however the Pachmyr pad I bought does not come close to fitting. It said it was for that model of rifle but it is out by over an 1/8" around the top of the pad.

The prefit pads never fit....been thru it a few times....ended up putting a pad for a Winchester M70 on a 721 Rem becasue it fit better,.....a Savage pad fit way better on a Pre'64 M70 than the one Pachmahr had listed...

take the plastic butt plate to the store with you and match one up,...you might get close but you'll still have to grind to fit.

What caliber is your BDL that you need a thicker pad?

My BDL is a 30-06. It currently has a plastic butt pad. I also found an intersting this from researching the date of manufacture. According to the following website my "brand new" rifle was manufactured in 1986. This may also explain why the pad does not fit since it states it is for new models. Not sure what to thinkof this.
