I bought a new S&W 22a-1 about a month ago. Go ahead and laugh but is a fun, cheap and accurate gun to shoot. My only real complaint with it is the magazine disconnect safety device. Beside the fact that I totally don't understand the logical purpose of it, it makes for inserting the mags rather difficult. If you insert a mag quickly and feel the click of it seating, you can rack the slide, aim, pull the trigger and nothing happens. You then need to really hard push in on the mag and feel another light click, then it will fire. I have let other people try it at the range, and the same thing happens to them. I have 3 separate mags and each one needs to have a stupid amount of force to fully seat.
I guess my question is, is it possible to remove the mag disconnect device, and is it advisable?
