Never had an issue with my Winchester either. I had heard of the concern when I originally got it so I made myself a few dummy rounds. After running them numerous time with a full mag, allowing them to feed from the right and left side, I never had a feeding issue.

Main reason why i want to stick with the WSM is mainly because i already have everything i need to reload.
Currently have around 300 reloaded to Hornady factory spec, with roughly 400-500 processed brass. Have a Browning for deer hunting since the last 3-4 years, and lurking for something a little on the light side

There seems to always be a light 300WSM for sale in the EE. If you're all setup for it you shouldn't have an issue finding the rifle you want.
There is a nice M70 in the hunting forum and a cool EM Precision rifle in the Target EE...and several others in each.

Another note I'll add is related to recoil. Having used a Savage 16FCSS Weather Warrior 300WSM with 24 inch barrel. I find the recoil to be not too stout at all. The barrel profile is probably a medium and it has a decent recoil pad. So with the stock design one may have to add a cheek riser and higher rings of some sort - due to the angle of bolt throw. All and All it's accurate and can reach out.
There are other brands and models and some are on the light side so recoil may feel a bit heavier. Ask others who use this caliber and get their feedback as it may make a difference as to which brand and model you may end up buying.

The only WSM that really makes a jump from a then current cartridge is the 270 wsm
the 7mm and 300 WSM are not much different than the 7mm or 300 Mags available, recoil claims didn't prove out for many shooters
270 WSM gains 2-300 fps over the old 270 so should have been met with better love, but fell from grace with the other two
maybe if Manf had brought out faster twist rates back then, they would be the hot dog on the street now
