Greetings from Wyoming !

Recently purchased two 1910 280 Ross stalking rifles. Both have bad bores.

Trying to find out how to remove barrel and getting a lot of conflicting info.

Wondering if anyone has the straight poop on "how" ?

I'd show pics but can't find a way to post from my hard drive. :(

Barrel threads are square, right hand.
You will need a good barrel vise and a receiver wrench that fits properly.
The barrels will likely be tight. They've been torqued in hard for over a century, and may not want to come out.
Without good tools, there is a good chance of doing harm.

I would also recommend making a relief cut on the barrel as close to the receiver as possible. If the bores are bad then your not going to reuse them.

Ross rifle barrel removal. If the barrel is to be discarded you can cut a relief groove just in front of action it should relieve some of the tension, use a small Dremel with a small disc. The barrel still may be difficult to remove.

Mine came off easy enough. Big purpose-built wrench and sharp whack and the barrel came right off.

Thanks, I'm trying fire lapping on the 28" one. That failing I'll pull the bbl, send it to JES and have a 33 Ross.

Did this with a mint K31 w/a bad bore. Now it's a 35x55 Swiss. Between a 358 Win & 35 Whelen.

The second one has a 26" bbl and I'll sell it.

If I can't get fire lapping to work, I may have it rebored to 33 Ross or sell the whole rifle.

I am selling the 26" bbl rifle.

Sorry Ross1910280, I should have been clearer about who I was addressing. I know you're not talking about selling barrels. I was actually directing that question to Blastattack. He just removed a barrel, so I was asking if he was replacing it.

Found a 3rd that has a good bore. Also found that a leupold Remington 721 long action turn in mount can be fitted with some machining.

I'd love to post pictures but paying 25 bucks to do so is a rip off.

I note that on the bottom of the receiver, under the receiver ring, there is a set screw that appears to lock a pin in place. Does that pin lock the threaded portion of the barrel in place ?

I have to IMGUR and now it works:
