I have a really great P14 barrel and action that is fit for a restoration project. I want to remove the front sight assembly to get the forward barrel band on. First I removed the pin from the sight that passes through the assembly and a key that is cut into the sight assembly and barrel. I have tried to loosen it up with a heavy brass hammer after putting penetrating oil on it and letting it soak for a few days.
Does anyone have any experience with the P 14 front sight? If yes what did you do to remove it?

Another question:
I have a Sako AII in 308 that I would like to have changed to 7mm08.
Are there any 7mm08 barrels around for the Sako? Will Sako barrels interchange with all of the other Sako series firearms?

Does anyone have a 7mm08 Sako barrel, or know of someone that can rebarrel one for a reasonable price?

Thanks

Al

yes those front sites can be tight, I made a jig that held the fore site, well a plate with a hole just bigger then the barrel cut in half, set that below the front site base in the 5T press and just pressed it off by pushing down on the muzzle.

no problems getting it back on after, went on easy.
