Anyone on here try removing bluing on a Tikka T3? Any advice or compound that worked well? Thinking about rebarreling and would like to go with nitride finish instead of blued

Obviously bluing removing solution but any light strength acid like vinager would work as well. I had a a gun to refinish a few years ago that had cranberry juice drink spilled on it . the bluing came right off where it had contacted the beverage.

Muriatic strips it bare in a heartbeat, but rinse it off and neutralize fast. Less powerful acids will work eventually. Not sure you want the phosphoric compounds if you are nitriding it immediately afterwards. Phosphoric is good for keeping it 'clean' for a long time but is its own form of light coating.

I am not sure you need to remove bluing before doing a Nitride finish. I haven't done any... but I know you don't need to remove bluing before re bluing.

Are you doing your Nitride finish?
