Removing butt pad from Zastava Z98?

Has anyone removed the butt pad from a zastava Z98 with a synthetic stock? I don’t mind the stock fit and finish, but I don’t like the hollow sound from the buttstock. I would like to remove the pad and fill the void. No existing holes are in the stock behind the receiver. When I try to pull on the pad it won’t give so it likely has big “nubs” in the rubber insert connectors.

Probably screwed on, you just may not see the holes.

Like Hitzy said....and it may even have a light glue applied from factory.
Use a Philips screwdriver to remove them when you find the small holes.
