removing forend from 870/HP9

just need a quick answer

im trying to remove the foreend from my HP9 ..

it seems to have a nut with 2 cut outs stopping me from taking it off.


Q: is there a special tool for undoing this.. if not what do you guys do

I sometimes jump up and down on it with my work boots waving my hands in the air yelling SERENITY NOW, SERENITY NOW.

A pair of needle nose pliers will work just fine.

You cal also use the bolt carrier for it. Not a 100% fit, but it's all I ever use.

I have used everything from the carrier to a flathead screwdriver. Take your time it may be a bit hard the first time.

I use my fingers and I have it pulled apart in seconds.......

Yall must have some real chubby fingers lol.

I just encountered this problem myself.

WD-40 the nut, let it sit. I found a flat piece of metal and used it to torque off the nut. Perhaps a choke tube wrench would do the trick.
