Does anyone know how to remove the front sight on a browning brl lightweight? When on my min. magnification i can see front sight thru scope. There is one visible screw but after that does it slide forward or backwards or is there a hidden screw?

I've never removed BLR sights but Rem have a second screw under the dovetailed blade. Remove the driftable front blade, then the 2 visable screws and voila no more hand ripper. BEWARE when using rifle as club, has tendancy to slip through hands unabated.

ok thanks. i kind of thought there was a screw under the dove tail. As far as leaving front sight on for in the bush one day. I put a 2.5-16x42 scope on and rear sight has to be removed to mount scope and when on 2.5x magnification the front sight is just about at the crosshairs. really annoying to look through a clear scope and then have this big blurry spot from front sight

A 2.5-16x42mm scope on a BLR?

Yikes! That must balance and handle beautifully.

I am a fan of low-power scopes and I've gotten accustomed to the blurry-front-sight thing as seen through them at lower magnifications. I can't say that it's ever bothered me, but the front sight on mine is always way down low, near the bottom of the field of view.

I suspect that it's a missprint, as there is no such thing as a 1.5-16, must be 1.5-6.

2.5-16x42 is not a misprint. check bushnell elite 6500 scopes. they make it in 3 different reticles. 1.5-16 is a misprint.

I screwed around with it today and shot it for the first time with scope mounted. It feels and handles amazingly well. I will love this gun in 7mm rem mag for everything i hunt from bush to prairie. Now i just have to sight it in and do some shooting from 100yds to 600yds. I can't wait to play with this gun.

Show us some pictures, There are some of us that would like to see what you have there.
I have put scopes on my BLR's and have done everything I can not to remove the sights.
The biggest scope I have used is a 6X on my 243 and I use a 1.5 on my 358.

I stand corrected, never used or even looked at Bushnell scopes.
