Removing Gas Piston Assembly on SKS-D

How does one remove this? I'm trying to move the lever by prying it upwards a little and then trying to move it along its track, by the rear sight, but it seems it doesn't want to budge.

It's a norinco sks-d, if that helps. Can't go shooting till I figure this out cause I want to be able to clean it out after, and I really want to try this rifle out.

They're tough to move, so you'll probably need some sort of non-marring tool to pry it up; the cylinder that the lever is attached to is flat on one side, so that'll let you lift the handguard up off the rifle when you've got it rotated to the right spot.

You need to bring the lower indent in the lever to the upper end of the curved channel.

When the lever is there, a flat spot in the axial road that the lever rotates will be in such a possition that it will allow the rear end of the gas tube assembly to lift out.

You might have to actually wiggle the lever around a bit or, gently pry under the GTE when the lever is in the right spot.

If you lift the lever any further after you have removed the GTE,the spring loaded road will pop forward.
