Removing Iron Sights from Savage 99E

I just removed the rear sight from my 99E and would not like to remove the front site ramp. I am not sure how this is secured to the barrel and if it is even removable. Does anyone have any advice for how to complete this task? If there is an extremely easy way to accomplish this task and I am an idiot for missing it, please do not hesitate to call me on it.

Also, if there a plug available for cleaning up the dovetail where the rear sight was removed?

If I remember correctly the 99's that are post mil have an integral ramp on the barrel which means it's built right into the barrel. The dovetailed sight itself can come off but the ramp cannot.

I don't have an e around to check, but didn't some of them have a screw holding the ramp--screw is undeer the front sight if dovetailed. Ans as I recall some of them had a one piece sight/ramp that screwed to the barrel--I think the earlier ones were soldered to the barrel.

I was thinking that two so I went to my parts manual and the 99E exploded view showed no screw underneath it. I doubt his E is one of the pre-mil rarities so I just guessed at it being a post-mil. I don't have an E either.
