The mag break is also the separator between the mag well and the mainspring area. You want to keep that separator in there. Two ways to do this. You can either buy a Shadow part or you can take the arch out of the spring of your existing brake. I've seen both being done so pick your poison. It just all depends on how comfy you are working on the internal organs of your new toy.

If you are wanting to hotrod your 75 with some springs and maybe a Shadow hammer from Ghost you may as well just order the new plate at the same time.

You don't have to remove it, it just needs to be flattened out so it doesn't bear against the magazine enough to keep it from dropping free. You do want to have it in so that magazines cannot hang up in the frame when inserted.

CZ actually makes a flat part that goes in place of the mag brake, but it is cheaper to just bend the existing one flat.

This link should show you how to get at the mag brake and also how to improve the trigger should you find yours has excessive creep.

Yes, that's because it hangs up on the mainspring and guts for the hammer that the plate was protecting. If you have it out already then just work out the curve so it's flat and put it back in.

My mags weren't dropping free and the grip screws kept coming loose on my Shadow. I bent the brake flat and notched the sides of it to allow it to be in line with the grip screws without touching them. Now my mags fall free and I haven't had to retighten the grip screws since then either.
