Has anyone had any success in removing moly from bullets? I no longer shoot moly but have several boxes of bullets that I had applied moly with Lyman Kit. I would like to clean back to copper - What is best way to do it?.......jbrent

Moly

I have cleaned it off bullets in a vibrating case cleaner using corncob media. All the moly was stuck to the bottom of the bowl and the bullets looked like new.

i once removed molly with some butches bore shine.
i put my bullets in a glass jar and added a bit of the stuff, shook it around for about 20 seconds and the molly came off, took out the bullets and place on a paper towel to dry.
it may work with any bore cleaner.
try one or 2 first to see, its simple fast and easy.
happy shooting.

I had 200 rounds of moly heads. I took some old tumbling media & tumbled them & they came out without the moly. I threw out the media & kept the now copper jacketed heads.

Short story, tumbling works .

Thanks to all for your replies. I tried all cleaners I have on hand (plenty 0 parches moly cleaner, Shooters choice (copper, lead and black powder), Hoppes (benchrest & #9), Cleanbore 10 (copper cutter & solvent), Slip2000 (carbon killer & copper cutter), MPro-7 and the only one that will lift it - Barnes CR-10 (Almost pure ammonia copper remover). I doubt it is very good for the bullets and it takes a lot of rubbing. Next will try vibrating cleaner with green corn cob. If that does not work, will step up to ceramic tumbler.......jbrent
