What type of solvent do you use to remove paint from Ar15 handguards ?
Do you use a cloth or similar ?

This will be the first time i try this and i don't want to ruin the guards

Thanks

Once a product is painted there is not much you can do. You could sand and re-paint it a color you like. But if these are plastic I would strongly suggest not to use paint striper.

Winning colours paint and stain remover (avail from Cambodian Tyre, Home Depot, etc)

$10 for a big squeeze bottle (over 1L). Completely safe on plastics, FG, etc...

Good method is to put some of solvent on rag, wrap rag around area. At this point, you can even just put the part and rag in a bag and let it sit.

After letting it sit, come back to it with a brush, 3M pad, or what have you. Paint will come off plastic handguards easily.

The plastic or the metal? The amonia may react to the aluminium of the rifle. Good to know if it reacts to the plastic though. It works on almost any other plastic (like Magpuls plastic).

Oven cleaner is harmful to AR ....don't ask me how I know that.

Simple Green all purpose cleaner simply soak it overnight in the full strength solution, next morning it should bubble right off the part.

I read some other posts on removing krylon and did it to both a rail system and the plastic rail panels using circa 1850 from rona. It worked very well, use gloves and googles! I cannot stress that enough, I failed to at first and quickly learned my lesson.
