Removing paint

Have an old P14 sporter I'm cleaning up. Bubba painted it black and I want to blue it. any thoughts on the best stripper to use?

i bought some stuff last year called "Circa 1850" from home hardware. says somethin about furniture stripper on it.

not sure if its safe on metal or not? dont remember seeing anything about that on the can. this stuff is great tho...paint it on and 30 seconds later wipe the paint/clear coat off with a rag. it leaves wood perfectly dry a couple minutes afterwards and very clean.

I agree the Circa stuff is great, does not harm steel , but don't let it touch anything aluminum

Another vote for the Circa 1850, I've used it on four stocks and it works really well.

I have used the Circa 1850 stripper.

For metal I find laquer thinner works pretty darn good.

lacqer thinner and MEK, Acetone are great to clean cheap paints off of a stock or barreled reciever. But Lacqer thinner being best as it is the cheapest and easiest to find. If you submerge your receiver in a lacqer tank you will be able to remove all the crud and paint out of the reciever without having to worry about having anything left behind.
