Got some pine sap on my synthetic stock while bear hunting last year. Soap and water isn't getting it off. Thought I would ask here for ideas on removing it before I try something stronger than dish soap.

Don't know if this will help; but back in the 80's I picked pine cones and we used vegetable oil to remove the pitch from our hands. I can't see why it would not work on your stock.

The alcohol germ killer hand lotion, it dries by itelf stuff. Took xmas tree pitch right off, I was amazed.

Alcohol, specifically methyl hydrate is the best choice to remove pitch. The newspapers use resin based inks and use nothing but methyl hydrate. It also mixes with water so will draw water out of wood. Mix an ounce of mh and water together and shake. Put it in a bowl and light it. It will burn to nothing without leaving even a film. I use the stuff to take pine pitch out of my drum sanders belts. Nothing else works and it is fast even on the burnt stuff.
