Hi all,
I just want to share a little tutorial on how to remove the pinned flash hider.
After doing a bit of research, I have found these 2 great tutorial that I followed.

Now, I am a newb in terms of fixing my guns and with tools, so I hope this easy step by step can help newbs like myself in removing the pinned flash hider.
1.Here is before picture. I am changing the default DanDefense m4A1 flashhider, it comes in pinned and welded.
2. And the tools: Wrench, Dremel with reinforced cutting wheel, Dremel drill bits( not sure what the name is.)
3. Using the bench Vise to hold the upper receiver in place, and grind away. I believe it took me about 10 minutes to carefully saw the pinned /weld area.
Once you see the pin circular outline, you have cut away the welded area. Then I use the drill bits to drill a little bit of the pin. Make sure only drill about 2-3 mm.
You dont want to drill through the flash hider and damage your barrel thread.
4. When I think I have drill enough, I tried rocking the flash hider back and forth. Once I see the pin wobbles a little, I know that its time to use more force to turn the flash hider CW and CCW until the pin falls off.
5.You can see that the thread has no damage, the black gunk covering the pinhole is just carbon build up. Give the thread a really good wipe with acetone, until no more carbon visible on the paper towel. Do not use lubricant/ CLP to clean the thread, you want it really dry so the Rockset will work.
6. Once clean, then its ready for new flash hider. Follow the instruction from the new flashhider to see how many shims to use etc.
Afterward making sure the flash hider is properly alligned, Rockset*( it comes with Surefire FH) it , and you are good to go!
I hope this helps. Big thanks to Beniw765 and Tcodyw88 for the original tutorial.
cheers!
