I am curious if anyone has attempted to polish or buff off the rough finish on a rem 700 sps?
I had thoughts of trying this and then having the action hot blued afterwards, any insight?
Thanks,
Les.

Anything is possible but economically it would probably be less expensive to sell the gun and get a BDL or CDL already done. I've used SPS rifles for builds and polished the innards and jeweled the bolt to make it smoother but left the outside alone as I like a non glare finish on hunting rifles.

I have used a product called ( Metal Rescue) i get it in a auto parts store . it takes the finish off in a couple hours . or if you want a rough finish use a bead blaster

this is a shotgun i beadblasted and then blued

I have polished up several stainless sps's, and re bead blasted them with a finer glass bead - worked perfectly. After stripping the rifle it takes about 20min of polishing and 10min in the blasting cabinet.
