Hello has anyone removed the scouts picatiny rail? I really have no need for it as I like the irons and just use it as a walking bush gun. Unfortunately ruger will not sell the screw plugs for the barrel to Canada due to export restrictions! Does anyone know the screw size required to plug these holes and where to find them? Thanks,

X 2, i have a box of gun screws, nothing fits

Must be a weird size, it seems to be a finer thread then other gun screws of the same diameter

Ya it's crazy I have thought about just cutting down the screws that came with the rail but I really do not want to that if I don't have to. If anybody has has had any luck I would be interested to hear about it, seems like something that should be easily remedied but its so frustrating.

I went through the same BS when trying to get the screws from Ruger, but blame the U.S. government for their idiotic regs. I finally ordered the screws from an industrial supply store out of the U.S. that sells all kinds of fasteners, but since they aren't firearm related, there was no problem. Except one: the screws cost $4 for a pack of 25 but the shipping was almost ten bucks.

These are black coloured regular allen head screws, 6-40 x 1/4'' long, which were the shortest I could get. I had to grind them down because of being too long.
If you can't find any in that thread size then let me know and I'll send you some.
