well it looks as though i have managed to land myself a great rifle... however the stock has been painted (and the paint job is great btw) so this is mainly a what if i wanted to question.
the stock is a bell and carlson, and it has been painted with krylon. if i did happen to down the road want to remove the paint without affecting the stock in any way, what would the best way be?

i apologize if this is the wrong forum, i just figured that this would be the best place for a question like this.
thanks in advance.

Lacquer thinners or acetone may work, but may possibly also have an effect on the composite stock, try in an unseen tiny spot first to see how it reacts before you do the entire piece.

Ethanol is often used to remove paint from delicate surfaces (restorations). Can always try some of that natural, good for the environment crap they sell too.

I used gasket remover and then a pressure washer about 15 seconds later to rinse it off. Be careful with that stuff, it's like brake cleaner times 10!

^ I blacked out some window trim on a mustang I had few years back with krylon and in the summer put suntan lotion on as I have a few tattoos and driving with my hand out the window the lotion completely stopped the Krylon where my arm made contact

Don't know it this helps but it's worth a shot. Just let it sit a while

Acetone or lacquer thinner is the way to go. I believe the B&C stocks are made with some sort of hybrid resin and should be proof the most solvents, test a spot first. Most things that come in rattle cans can be treated this way.

Good tip never thought of that..
Years ago I got a Honda trike from a friend who's son thought it would look better spray painted black. The gasket remover I used was made by permatex and when timed right didn't ever harm the factory decals. There is a more powerful remover called tail strip for the really tough paint. That might leave a damaged plastic behind though.
