Removing stock from AR 15

Hello I have to remove the Old stock from my AR lower, do I need any special TOOL? I am adding a CTR expandable stock. Has anyone done this before, I was told I need a special tool

What do you have on your AR lower at the moment? If its has a buffer tube and a M4 style stock, simply pull down on the latch on the stock and slide it off, then slide your new one on. If you have an A2 fixed stock, you are going to need a few things.

At the moment I have a black CTR stock, i want to add a TAN stock, Do you mean pull down on the Latch as in the latch then expands the stock? When I expand the stock I push in on the latch so to remove it I pull down is this right?

Yes, just pull down on the latch all the way and it will slide off.

squeeze the part to expand the stock, then you have to grab the pin that the lever moves, and move it even further by hand (it is somewhat hard). then it'll slide off. (the lever itself does not move the pin far enough to take the stock off, only to move it)
