Removing the corncob grit from 223

dump them :D:D or did you deprime frist and you got crap in the flash holes ....i did that one (walnut tho) and just grab handfulls necks up and used compersed air to clear them didnt take long 10 min i had 200+ done

Thanks Darkarcher,

But these still have the primers in, and are full of grit which won't shake out.

I was getting them clean with a drill, but this is taking about 30sec each, NOT acceptable.

Can't decap them until I get the grit out.

Don't use corncob to clean your 223 :p :D .
Actually, this is what I use too  and I end up using a squiggly pick to fish out all the pieces. Major PITA. Gonna pick a bit of walnut media just for my rifle cases.

(E)

Run the brass in the machine for a minute or two without any polishing media in it. That should shake out the majority of it. For the stubborn stuff, use compressed air or/and a thick needle in an exacto-knife handle. It's a PITA but sometimes physically picking it out is the only way.

A straightened paperclip does the job in the flash holes, and to get the media out of the case I just shake them a little, and it pours right out - I've never had a problem with it. Running the tunbler empty loosens things up a lot, the Lyman tumblers work this way - they have a chute near the bottom that you open to drain the media out of the bowl. This gets most of the media out of the cases too

i used air for flash holes too ....i havent used corncob so im unsure why its so hard to get out i friend gave me 20lb bag walnut from a like lordco or somthing for beedblasting works great for $20 ish and sounds like less hasstles than corncob

I now use Walnut blasting media. Works awesome, and doesn't stick in .223 cases. Cost is around $25 for a 50lb bag.

I use the walnut media....I end up grabbing handfuls of brass to shake it out.

A little frankford arsenals tumbler and some dillon rapid-polish does a FINE job.
