removing tiny rust spots on blued barrel

My savage rifle has small rust spots that cannot be removed by standrad frigidized gun oil, what would be my best option for removing these small rust spots from my barrel?

a product called "never dull" has helped me a lot

Apply some oil to the rusted spots and gently rub with ulta-fine or fine steel wool.

I usually take my dremel with a tiny detail wire brush on it and polish the spot right to the white. A dab of cold blue then and blend in with 0000 wool and some oil. You would never know there was a spot of rust on it.

Hoppes # 9 Solvent and 0000 steel wool...

lightly rub, it will not remove blueing - only the rust leaving a bare spot where the rust was.

Also, try rubbing it with a copper penny (not one of the new alloy ones though!)

I've successfully used a dab of automotive brake fluid on a cotton rag.

Thansk for the replies off to the gun store for some solvents!

Oil and 0000 steel wool. Takes off the rust without removing the bluing. So does a fine brass wheel in a bench grinder. Eye protection mandatory. Any rust removing solvent will also remove the bluing.
