Removing top rib on over under

A hacksaw, file and elbow grease, the cost is whatever you need to buy.

Not a lot of info in your query. Make and Model of shotgun adds a lot of info to give you a better answer. Solid rib, vent rib, soft soldered, do you want sights installed, do you want barrels reblued are all factors that affect cost.

The gun is a Beretta 686 onyx field gun with a 28” vent top rib and Mobil chokes. A couple gunsmiths in the UK offer ribless English game gun conversions, Sportarm and AW Rules. I’m interested if I could remove the rib myself as I’m a competent metal worker or if it makes more sense to send to a gunsmith.

What about the bluing that would be required?

How good it looks when completed is totally dependant on the prep work before. Removing the posts and rib will leave a horrid looking surface... that will need a lot of draw filing and draw polishing... it's a surface that you sight down...

I feel it's a huge step backwards in value ... what advantage in removing an o/u top rib ?
