I own a Norinco cq 556, while cleaning it today I was wondering if I should get a repair kit for it eg. bolt, trigger etc. as a backup. I know a site sponser as them but there's so many different kind I don't know which one to get. What should be included in the kit.

Thanks for your help.

Depends on how much you shoot and what type of shooting you do.

But from what I've read the most important extra parts you should have is a bolt, cam pin, firing pin, firing pin retaining pin.

Firing pin retaining pins, gas rings, front sight post, extractor with spring and firing pin. Maybe a spare bolt head and spare cocking handle complete "if your using a tac latch"

"never have I seen a bolt cam fail"

Just buy another AR as backup!
I plan to buy the CQ556 at some point so I have back up parts for my SDI hybrid carbine. Plus, so I can get the .22lr conversion for it and use it as my guinea pig for when I get into ammo reloading/hand loading. Wouldn't want to fcuk up my multi-grand XR, when I can use the chicom cheap reproduction instead. ;)

If you are going to be shooting competitions I would recomend a complete bolt and carrier. It lets you swap the bolt and carrier without having to tear it apart looking for the problem that you then have to fix.

I have seen a bolt cam fail.
