Hey all,
First off posting from mobile so forgive the formatting.

So I have an ADM quick detach mount on my 6br. I tried 2 groups of 10 shots with the mount removed between EACH SHOT... so lots of off and then on again.

Then shot a 10 round group for control with no removal of the scope.

As you can see in the pictures, it is fairlt repeatable. The group sizes at 100m:

10 shot off/on 1.2"
10 shot off/on 1.16"
10 shot control 1.60" (1.05 without flier oops)

Notes:

1 for the control group I was almost shooting directly into the sun and could barely see the target. The last shot that went left i was one handing the rifle, other hand covering my eyes from the sun do not recommend. Usually the rifle groups 5 shots in. 5" at 100m like this. I just cut it down and added a brake and haven't returned loads yet. Blah blah blah I know I'm just making excuses for my lousy shooting. Have mercy, it's harder when it's not on the Internet.

2. I recently put this barrel on, and when it was off soaked it in cleaner and really scrubed it. I noted on one of the targets "1, 2, 3" because those were the first shots. I wonder if they would have been in the group otherwise?

3. I put the mount on the same way each time - push it forward and left, half close the front lever, half close the back lever, then fully close front then back levers. I'd like to try another time if this is important or not. Oh and levers were tight enough I could not really open them without a tool. A pen worked fine to open them up.

4. Why do this? Well, this is my gopher gun and I'd like to build a box as small as possible to store it in. If I can take off the scope and put it under the barrel in the case I can make it a lot smaller and easier to pack around. I'm satisfied from this test that the point of impact doesn't change much taking it off and on again. Once I re develop loads for the rifle I'll try it again.

Thank you for doing this test, it's quite useful. Haha I always push mounts forward when I close/tighten them, but I didn't stop and consider that pushing forward and left is a good idea!

I'd like to do this same sort of test with some non-QD unimounts I have. If I ever get time to go to the range!

Nice little test and write up. I had a very similar experience with an ADM quick detach mount and a 1-6 optic on my Daniel Defence MK 12 in 556. It started when my buddies optic $h1t the bed so we dismounted mine for him to try at the range, it hit almost perfect to POA, so he ran a couple boxes with making no adjustments, after I pried the optic away from him I re-mounted on my DD and it went right back to the original zero with no adjustments needed. I was very impresses. Sorry I don't have any pics to show!

Thanks. I have a set of qd mounts from eBay that were like $25. I'm going to try the same test with them also.

Previously with another savage, I pulled off the scope that was on non-qualified mounts, then changed BARRELS, then put the scope back on, and shots only moved 2"at 100m.

This write up, along with a few others from online, has pretty much convinced me to buy this mount. I am building a rifle now, and am in the midst of saving for a new piece of glass, and my theory was to spend as much as I was reasonably able to on glass ($2000 or so) and purchase a 1 piece QD mount so that if the need arises I can just move the scope from rifle to rifle quickly as the cost of sighting in a rifle with a few rounds is exponentially less then purchasing a new scope and mount for each rifle. Also, if do have some of my plans come to fruition I may be traveling with this rifle and if I choose to either ship the rifle or pack it under a plane, then the scope can come off and ride with me, and be reinstalled for whatever event with as few tools as possible.

So thank you TargetNorth for putting this up.
