I only have exp. with hunting scopes, I do not change once it is sighted in. What scopes will return after going up-down back & forth? Is there a difference between fixed & variable. Thanks for the help, It may save some time. AJ::wave::

Most of todays higher end scopes are quite repeatable.
Nightforce, S&B and Leupold MK4s and VX11s and US Optics are all renowned for being very repeatable.
There is a reason that LE Agencies and the militaries use these brands on their "work" rifles.
The old days of POA/POI moving with power ring adjustments in variables is pretty much done. I would consider todays variables as good as the fixed powers now in that regard.

I've never had any problems with adjustment repeatability on ANY Weaver scope; from the old J series to the present day scopes.
Every Leupold Target model scope I ever used was also just fine.
The same applies to Bushnell.
Although I am still slightly paranoid about variable scopes, today's variables work so well I can't justify my prejudice against them. Windage and elevation adjustments are the same in either case.
The high end scopes may be better (given the cost, they'd better be!) but most name brand scopes will serve you well and you can afford more than one! Regards, Bill
