Not sure if this the right place to be posting this but here it goes... I bought a 10/22 Ruger 3 weeks ago and decided to modify it a little bit by putting HI-Viz sights on it so I took it to a local gunsmith who asurred me that he had put these sights on many a times and that it would be no problem. I also told him that I had adjusted the windage on a previous 10/22 and had a ##### of a time moving the sight. So I go in to pick up the rifle and he tells me that it all went okay but that he scratched it. I look and he more than scratched it. There were two indentations where he missed with the bracc punch near the rear sight. So seeing how this was going to be a rifle I was going to have for a long time and it was going to recieve plenty of scratches over the years I let it go. Before settling up I noticed the windage was really off to one side so I asked him he could adjust it so that it was center. We went in the back of his work area and he pulls out a drawer and proceeds to work off of there with a punch and hammer. He ends up scratching/dinging the other side. I'm not impressed at this point and we proceed to the front where he tells me not to worry about paying because of the "scratches". I get home and proceed to put on my see-thru sights and notice that the rear sight is off kilter (not level with the bases of my see-thru sights). I'm thinking how the F**K can the sights be so crooked. Not knowing a whole lot about rifles this being my first one I figured out that he had banged on it so hard that he he had rotated the barrel. So between watching tutorials on taking down the rifle, taking the barrel off and taking the trigger assembly apart and putting it all back together; I figure I wasted the better part of the day. The pin and trigger fell out of the trigger assembly in case you're wondering why I was messing around with that. Boy was I pissed at this point. Then I noticed that the front sight was also out and there were indentations/dings along the base on both sides from a tool he was using. He failed to put it all the way in because he had mashed/pressed up some metal on the other side of the notch/base so that the dove tail insert would not go in all the way. I ended up having to take it out and file it down so that it would fit properly. So after all this the sights work now but there is bare metal exposed where there used to be blueing and its going to rust over time. Does anybody know where I can get an inexpensive replacement barrel with the original sights on it?
