I have an old 870 wingmaster. It is in good shape and comes with a poly choke. I was thinking of getting another barrel with rem chokes, is it worth doing? I have no intention of selling the gun and would just shoot it occasionally, I have a much better modern waterfowl gun so this would be for days when I just feel like taking it out or for chasing some pheasants. The gun is about 50 years old. I looked online and a new barrel is about $300.

Other then not looking too good the poly choke system I'd better then anything else. As you can fine tune the choke for you ammo.
keep it if u are just shooting lead

You can find remember barrels here on the Exchange for around 200$ or a bit less .I just sold a 28 inch for 175$..I would buy one if I was on your shoes and if you slug hunt .Rifled barrels run around 200$ as well..Dutch

Rem choked wingmaster barrels?? I never see them that cheap. Express yes all the time
Cheers

Express barrels work well on the old wing masters .no scents spending big money on a barrel for a old gun.
