Hey guys and gals, I need your help:

I presently own an Accuracy International AT308 with 20" barrel 1:12 twist. I want to replace the barrel with one chambered for 260 REM. I've talked to Guy at Wolverine Supplies who initially sold me the rifle (great service by the way). He informed me that I would be looking at close to 1600$ for an Accuracy International AT barrel chambered in 260 REM, 26", 1:8 twist. My question to all of you is: do you know of any other options I would have that would maybe cost a little less?

Please note that I would obviously love to continue with the 260 REM as I am already loading for it in my Savage 12 LRP but I could go for the 6.5 Creedmoor if need be.

Thank you.

joe

I don't know about the AT, but there is a gunsmith in Alberta who has re-barrelled an AX from a blank.
They're not a sponsor, so let me know if you want their info.

Few options in the states. You can import.

Also, maybe Bob Jury would take a stab... I could borrow him my AT for measurements... =)

I'd also give JC at JC Custom Barrels a shout, he's in NB and can likely build you one to whatever specs you want, his stuff is very good.

Hi Joe, I've got 2 barrels showing up next week from Insite Arms for my AXMC, and both were priced really well. Had them paint them and throw on their Heathen Muzzle brakes, which I love. These barrels are coming up from OTM in the States and have a great reputation, but am also ordering a 6mmSLR barrel thru them that they are spinning up from a blank.
You should call Andy and talk to him, super easy guy to chat with and very helpful. Will build to suit or import a big name barrel for you, plus instal a brake and cerakote to suit too. Plus I found their prices as good as anywhere else.
I got my AX from Guy as well, and he's awesome to deal with, and the barrels they bring in from WiN Tactical, if that's where they still get them from?, are supposed to be fantastic too, so can't go wrong either way. Insite might be cheaper and quicker though.

The barrels that Wolverine can bring in for AI rifles in 260 are from the UK. They still can't bring in barrels from the US from AINA. Wolverine has never offered Win Tactical or prior to that Dave Tooley chambered AINA barrels.

Hmmm, my 6.5 Creedmoor I ordered from Guy 2 years ago for my AT was a Dave Tooley Bartlien barrel. Plus Guy told me they were looking at bring in gin an order from Mile High, which is Win Tactical barrels I think?
I'm sure they can also bring in the factory UK ones with their regular orders too.

Not trying to start a pissing contest but this is what you have previously posted:

I was in the same boat as you, wanting a 6.5 Creddmoor barrel last year for my AT. I couldn't find anyone who carried them or was willing to get one for me in Canada without some hassle and added cost, so I ended up buying one myself thru Mile High Shooting in Colorado, who is the big AI distributer down there, and shipped and imported it myself, thru Prophet River. The barrel is a Bartlien and shoots like a laser!
Was actually pretty straight forward to do and not all that expensive either. Dollar sucks right now but it only took me about 8-10 weeks to get, from ordering it, to in my hands.

Maybe someone from Wolverine can chime in to clarify which barrels they can and can't bring in. The only reason I say this is because I have spoken to Wolverine on numerous occasions about getting barrels brought in from the US and received different information.

I stumbled across this thread by accident. If anyone would like info on anything we carry please post in our forum or contact us directly for the most timely response. Unfortunately we don't have time to follow every post on CGN.
First I would like to clarify our position on AI barrels as there appears to be some confusion here.
For the standard 308, 300 and 338 barrels we bring them in from the UK directly from AI. We cannot bring in the Lothar Walther barrels that are fitted to AI UK rifles in alternate calibers. This led us to pursuing AI USA for the Bartlein barrels through WIN Tactical. The problem we ran into is that they require us to put a minimum order of 10 barrels in one particular configuration and we do not appear to have the demand to justify the order. I am sure if we could mix and match the order for 10 barrels it would be no problem but that is not the way they do business.
With all this being said, we are looking at options for the Bartlein barrels but so far it has been cost prohibitive for the one off orders.

That is exactly what Guy and I had talked about when I got my AX from him this spring.
And also, my bad, I didn't get the Dave Tooley thru Guy, he had ordered in my 6.5 Creedmoor barrel for my MRAD last year, not the barrel for my AT.

I don't have my OTM barrels from them yet, should be here next week though. Ordered a 6mm XC and a 6.5 Creedmoor that are just waiting to get picked up and delivered to me, and they were a very good price, and I am getting Insite to throw their muzzle brakes and maybe some cerakote on those as well.
Give Andy a call, its super easy to do to get those barrels from OTM thru them, or have one spun up by Insite, all they need is a reamer and they have all the AI specs in hand.
