Replacement receiver for Remington 597

I was tightening the barrel retaining mechanism on my Remington 597 and cracked one side of it. The barrel is still held, in place adequately and the rifle shoots accurately but I am bothered by the fact that it has a flaw. Can anyone direct me to a source for a replacement?
 
I have no real knowledge but I read on RFC that you can't get the receiver separately so the crack was a death knell. Worth a try, though...
 
Thanks for the lead on Gravel. They told me that they have not been able to get parts from Remington for some time and do not know when they will be able again. Looks like I am stuck looking for a parts gun. Thanks again.

Sounds like you already have your parts gun. 597s pop up now and then. Wish I still had mine, got rid of it quite a while ago. Bought used for about $175 and thought I was doing good by parting with it for $250. Should've kept it but what can ya do
 
With Remington bankrupt the gun hasn't been made for a while now. Good luck finding parts! Probably a lot easier to just buy another gun and use what you have for parts.
 
The reciever is the serialized part of the gun, no replacement recievers were ever offered for sale by Remington. A friend went through this process with Remington years ago, before they went bankrupt, and was told this by Remington.

Looks like you are stuck with either buying another gun and using this as a parts gun or selling it either as a parts gun or the parts off separately.
