Replacement Russian SKS Wooden Handguard - Fitment and Alignment Issues

We’re happy you figured out the ferrule problem, and extra happy that you figured out the sks isn’t just a junky plinker. The sks is a robust semi that you can give hell and it’ll still operate, and it’s easy to take apart, clean and reassemble. Good luck on your journey and remember that 2 is 1 and 1 is none. Stock up on ammo and parts while you can. Cheers.

Isn't there a risk of https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Galvanic_corrosion using an aluminum rivet in steel?

In this case, it's the rivet that's the "sacrificial anode", so it'll actually protect the steel.
It'll take quite a while, many years perhaps, before any pitting becomes evident, especially if you do the right SKS thing and "put her away wet".
Eventually, if and when it should need replacing, drilling out aluminum is a piece of cake (especially for me, since I've drilled out many hundreds of rivets on aircraft in my time).
