I recently got a Rossi 16" 92 clone. I hate the sights. Front is a blade with a brass bead tip that in theory one would think would show up very well but practically and for my eyes it does not. Rear buckhorn probably wouldn't bother me much except this rifle is shooting 30" high at 100M with the site all the way down and the front bead below level with the bottom of the buckhorn slot.

I've never replaced open sights before, but the front certainly will just drift out, rear not as sure.

What options are out there? I'm not looking for a super precision diopter etc etc, a ghost ring and front fiber optic maybe? or??

I should just get it tapped and put a LER 3x or 4x on it lol.

Sounds like you need a much taller front sight, or maybe a lower rear. I don't know if Skinner makes them for that rifle but check him out. google skinner sights. He has nice rugged rear peeps and a sturdy brass blade. Your rear sight should drift out. Photo would help.

I just ordered a Skinner Peep sight for my Rossi .357mag. FYI mine shot high to until I realized you have to put the front sight down to the bottom of the notch in the rear. I just can't do it consistantly enough with older eyes so am going with the rear peep sight. I may even install a front FO from Steve Guns. I just want to wait to see how I make out with the factory front.

Other then the skinner peep that fits in your rear sight dovetail, you will have to drill and tap the receiver for a peep mounted further back.

Either a Lyman or Williams could go on the side of the receiver like this,

Or you could get an XS that's made for Winchester 94's ( may be discontinued) and mount it like this,

A tang sight would be another option that would also require drilling and tapping of the tang....

Some of the 92 clones have a safety lever in the bolt and if yours is one of them you can replace that lever with a sight that Steve Young makes that looks like this.... It is only adjustable for height so windage must be corrected with the front sight.

Steve Young is very friendly and knowledgeable about these 92 clones...

I'm having the same problem with shooting high and to the left. I've ordered a lower folding replacement rear from StevesGunz down in Texas but I'm having a heck of a time drifting the rear sight out. I've hit is so hard with a punch I thought I would break the wood, and nothing. I've tried both ways even though it is my understanding that they drift out from left to right. Anyone have any advice?

Naco, make sure the barrel is well supported on a solid base so all the energy of the punch is being transmitted to the sight! I use brass punches and sometimes hard wood.

Denada Amigo;
The slot fit is perfect; Don't butcher that gun with odd looking sights'.
Have one myself in 45 colt that I load for.
Handy here in the desert for critters of all sizes.
