Just looking for a little direction here...

I have a Savage No 4 with 3 different kinds of wood, probably none of it original, and was thinking about sprucing it up a bit. The metal is in good shape. There is a F stamped inside in the stock, I can't find the square S stamp on any of the wood.

Looking for some guidance. I understand original Savage wood can be very hard to find. I'm interested in getting something that matches. Any ideas of sources?

Thanks,

JGAM

You can look around, occasionaly sets come on sale from e-bay but good luck finding a proper savage set. If its allready a full wood set I would just keep it as is.

But if you really want a matching set I'll wish you luck and If you find a set let me know if your selling the mismatched set ;)

You're more likely to find Savage made parts in Canada as all remaining parts, rifles and machinery was shipped to Long Branch when the Savage contract ended.

How much did you end up paying. Last time I got a set it was around $75USD plus shipping etc....

Oh and the butstock that came with the set was mismatched but the rest of the parts were matching beech wood.

Mine was $100.00 plus shipping etc. Supposedly all matches. We'll see...
