Well it looks like I may be in the market for a replacement stock for my old rifle. It is a bolt action Cooey/winchester Mod 71 in .270 can anyone advise me as to who makes a good replacement stock that won't break the bank...either wood or synthetic would be fine. oh, I prefer some weight in my rifles and do not like a plasticy feel to the stock.

Thanks for any info
Chris

They are supposed to be similsr to the model 70, not shure. Maybe someone else might chime in on this one. If I were you I would contact someone like McMillan Stocks and ask their advice on what fits.

You will probably have to spend more for a new stock than the gun is worth. I am not knocking your rifle, but the Cooey/winchester 71s were not a huge investment in the 1st place, and are just different enough from the M70s that finding a stock will be an issue in its own and even an inexpensive stock will most likely run you $200.00 or more.
What is the problem with the old stock, I have yet to see many that can not be fixed as long as most of the pieces are still there.
