So a while ago I got me my first ever restricted, and it's been real fun shooting it, but one thing I wanted to do was give the part near the extract some deep cleaning since that was the last place to have discoloration after I got the gun (Norinco Type 54). It wasn't necessary but I wanted to clean it and know every bit of the gun.

But in my hyper intelligence maneuvers, I looked up a video of someone who whacked his TT-33 with a hammer instead of another guy who was far gentler with his gun. I didn't know how far back to push the extractor and thought it was in proper place for me to put the pin in, but it turned out to not be the case... and I tried to hammer my pin in when there wasn't an adequate opening for it to go through.

The extractor is fine, but the pin's top is mushroomed ever so slightly. It isn't bad, but that side won't enter the pinhole at all and I cannot make it go all the way through. This means the bottom pinhole (inside the slide) won't align correctly. I'm planning on taking this to the gun smith since while the slide will rack, I feel the extractor is too deep in and it will cause feed/extraction issues, not to mention that the pin could just pop out during firing, which is not something I want to happen.

Anyone know where I can get an extractor pin for the TT-33/Type 54? It's really, really hard to find.

Just measure the diameter of the one you have and get a slightly larger roll pin if you can't find a legit replacement.

Someone else suggested that. Anyway I decided to have a go at it again and managed to press it down ever so slightly (it didn't have much left to go).

I was told I needed to wiggle the extractor twice while inserting the pin, is this correct?

Now that I think about it that may have been me on FB.
IIRC I had to wiggle my kid's 3 times LOL
