I have owned a few Savage 17hmr rifles over the years & right now I don't have one.
I'm looking at replacing the last one I had, which was a Savage 93R17 BSEV I miss this gun.
So I have never tried other makes or models like Marlin, Browning or CZ guns. Sako quad has a nice 17 but to rich for me.

Savage 17hmr guns shoot well & have a nice feel, the only down side that I can think of is the action has a rough/gritty feel to them.
I would like some input on what your choice would be & why, I hope that some of you have tried other brands aswell as the Savage 17's
which might help me pick my next & last 17hmr.

Id go with another Savage but with the accutrigger. Before I bought I asked for opinions and looked every thread I could find and pretty much all of it said go with the savage because the accutrigger is so good. I cant comment on how it compares to anything else because its all ive owned. But for $350 I just got a blued heavy barrel with a boyds thumbhole laminate stock and it shoots amazing. Trigger is as light as I can go with it and you barely feel it.

You won't like the price, but I would go with another Cooper LVT.

I leave this afternoon for a CNRL job site past Lac la Biche. Next Saturday I hope to take a drive down to Prophet River to take a look first hand at some Coopers. None around southern Ontario to check out.
If I am get posted out there for the duration of this project, I should be abe to leave enough money behind for Clay to order me one. :)
Still dreaming about what caliber, but it won't be a 17. More like a 7mm

I really enjoy my CZ452 American in 22 rim.
The dovetail is a royal pain in the arse for finding proper rings.
For that reason, the Varmit may be the one.
I believe this model uses the standard ring bases?

good think all the 455's have the 11mm dovetail then. No need to figure out if its the 11mm or 3/8"

I sold my savage 17 FVSS to a buddy recently because I've wanted a t-bolt since I was a kid and my uncle would bring his over for me to use. One's as accurate as the other but you pay almost double for the fit and finish on the t-bolt.

Whats the action like on the T-bolt, nice and smooth, better than the Savage? How do you find the magazines? Do they feed well?
