I recently bought a Noronico 1911 commander off the EE, but the hammer it came with doesn't seem to match the gun. When the action cycles, the bottom of the slide drags across the hammer, which leads to unecessary friction and lousy reliability.

I'm very new to the 1911 world, and I'm wondering two things: does this happen on all 1911 commanders?

and,

Is it a simple job to replace the hammer with another that wouldn't catch the slide like this?

Hi Cancer, All 1911,s will do that. Just polish the hammer and slide were they contact. That should help. Dont remove a lot of metal just polish.

That sliding on the hammer is common to most semi auto pistols. If you look at the rear inside of the slide there's typically a polished or at least a smoother track for the hammer to rub on.

Replacing the hammer is a simple job - that doesn't necessarily require a gunsmith - if you choose a hammer and sear that are fully-finished and ready to drop in.

All 1911's do this as well as Win mod 94's ,and so on ect.

I always #### the hammer back before levering a mod 94,or a 1911 (a little less wear)minisq I'm sure but wear none the less!
