Replacing a swivel stud with a flush screw?

Hi,
My el-cheapo benchrest build. a Savage Axis .223, has a rear sling stud that holds the recoil pad in place.
I removed the stud so that it won't interfere with the rear bag but the recoil pad wobbles like hell!
I searched Brownells and a few other places looking for a flush fitting screw to replace the stud but can't find one.
Anyone know of such a creature? Failing that, what is the screw thread, if anyone knows?

i cant tell you the thread, but what your after is refereed to as a set screw, most fastener stores should be able to help you out.

failing that a button head screw would also work, it would protrude, but be much smoother then a sling swivel

edit_ a quck google shows the machine thread swing swivels are 10-32 threads
